Here ( I hope) is a photo of the last pan charger I made from antler.

age] . It is a simple process. 1. Shoot buck with good antlers. 2, carefully remove antler from skull. 3. cut off base section with short point left on. 4. cut tip of short point and drill for priming valve. ( or leave long for plug if so desired )5. drill and hollow resivor, making sure holes meet. 6. fit removeable brass plug to resivor. :idunno:

No pictures but I just finished two antler primers. I have several short starters with antler handles. I have made powder measures from antler tips. The button on my possibles bag is made from a slab of antler. Always looking for stuff to make from antlers.

Here is my first one from a deer antler. The horn valve, base plug and bushing are from Dixie Gun Works. Throws a uniform 3 gns.

I would make my next one a little slimmer to better fit into smaller locks, ie. pistols

Here's my first attempt, along with my first powderhorn....

It was a fun, easy project. I simply hollowed out a Moose brow-guard, added a snakewood plug & 3gn valve & stained it with some walnut juice. It'll hold about 90gn of powder, which I figured is plenty for a day at the range.

Nicely done.
I respect folks who do, or even attempt to make things for themselves.
Turns me off when questions are asked how to find a plastick made gizzie for simply ml needs.

Here's my pan charger I made after seeing a few around at various muzzle loading events. Its a 50 BMG case holding over 200 grains. Not very PC but very practical.

The shape and smooth interior really makes the powder flow well. MD

OP--Anyone have pic's of antler pan chargers that made? Any other stuff they make with antler?

Where is the antler? I could not find it.

Good point, I guess I could drill out a moose antler and drop it in some epoxy to keep it in place. Course it would be a lot heavier and balkier but it would look like antler. MD

Yes, I make lotsa stuff with antler. Very handy material and fun. Below is a loading block/powder holder for a 20 ga. smoothie. Intended for hunting where more than one follow-up shot would almost never be required. The powder holder (not measure) will hold over 100 gr. bp but, of course, only the amount needed would be put in.
BTW, finding corks for sale was the hardest part.

I put the antler handles on this Green River patch knife and turned the brass rivets on the lathe. MD PS, Black tail shot on Kodiak Island.

In looking at it now I probably should have turned the handles around and put the base up front for a finger guard.

Yep, it would answer the OP requests and let us see some more of your excellent work that you do and give others some ideas, antler is better than shell casings.

Nice idea and it works, will have to make some. Check with you local Laboratory, that is where I did get my corks.

A combination of a speed loader and a loading block, nice idea, I really like it and made it out an an antler.

Sorry, I forgot what state you live in. Try Hobby Lobby or Michaels.

Don't they use big corks when sealing the big jugs?
