Looks like a crack, doesn't it? Not to worry. Is it just me or does that mainspring look like it's set to fail at the main V-bend? I know it's a casting but still.....
Lack of detailing inside and out and on all parts. Wouldn't it be fun to take that thing apart and make it all nice and bright and shiny and silky smooth functioning? That is one strange looking mainspring.
yes.looks a little rough for someone like House, no?
i must need your eye doctor. that plate couldn't be any flatter. unless 3 different straight edges are all warped.I can live with the outside finish but the inside could use some work. The plate isnt flat and the “as cast “ spring shows where it could break.
Sorry. From the light reflection and porosity marks the plate looks unfinished.i must need your eye doctor. that plate couldn't be any flatter. unless 3 different straight edges are all warped.
i guess i need to take today off from here. Wife talked me into shaving off my beard and that always turns me into a curmudgeon. see ya.
Looks like lost Wax castings, L&R ????beware I derusted two L&R flintlocks in deruster fluid and the main springs just broke , fell apart in the fluid, ????in two bits !!!!! , fortunately I had a pair of old shotgun locks and the maine springs were a perfect fit Magicwondering if anyone can recognize this lock and tell me who may have made it. thanks in advance View attachment 276123View attachment 276124
