CVA pistol has no markings of where it was made. Most had Spain on it somewhere

It's most likely from Spain. I have had several CVA branded guns, judging by the Manton style lock Spain is a good guess. It may be marked on the bottom of the barrel. Have you removed the barrel?
 
If it has no serial number then is was a kit - the breech plug separate from the barrel and therefore no home-country proof was possible. As note above, most kits came from Spain from a company called Jukar. Very simple and basic pieces, too, but with the odd gem popping up now and again to surprise us.
