I have a Hawken that has a few dings, in it's walnut stock. Looking for a few suggestions to remove them, if possible.

I have removed several by laying a wet rag over the dent or ding and then using an iron to apply heat. very carefully and at short little intervals checking the progress as you go. Keep the area damp with the cloth and it will not scorch.
Good luck,
Packdog

I have used the same methode using wet paper towels. Dents with gouges need to be refinished.

This also doesn't work on all dents some are just to bad or have broke the grain.

Ditto...If the iron is too big (or the dents small) I have used a soldering iron / wood burner for the heat source... :v

I used my wife's iron, and a wet cloth. Ding's cleaned up pretty well, not perfect, but a lot better than they were. Thanks, all for the ideas.

If the dent's too big or you have a gouge, there's always inlays. For filler I have heard of shellac sticks which come in different colors and you melt and fill the hole with them.
