Will it be something along the lines that colonials used everyday? Including defence? Is it something that would be a hybrid among many styles?
So, uh, you need another grandson? While I’ll probably buy the Fowler Kit eventually, I’m thinking that another .54 Woodsrunner will come first. I want each of my Sons and grandsons to have both a SMR and Woodsrunner.
Stupid post. And like you know.
From what Jim has revealed. It will be an offering that will fit within boundaries of the export quality English styles that he got to study, in person, for this offering. Will it be something along the lines that colonials used everyday? I . . . kinda don't disagree. Litigious modern society has resulted in thicker barrels. But we still have our faces so we have that going for us.Stupid post. And like you know.

I’m surprised that being within the final few months before release that there isn’t already a pre-order up with some pictures.
Sorry I shouldn't have said it was stupid.Lmao! You admitted yourself you don’t even own a smoothbore. Where’s your counter-argument then, clown?
There is a thread on here Mr Kibler was participating in on this piece later last year. He stated the 16ga will be thin walled and nice. The 20 will be thicker and a tad chunky.Hopefully the barrel walls on his fowler/trade gun are THIN and the gun is LIGHT, as were the originals.
So many reproductions have thick, heavy barrels that balance and handle nothing like the original guns had, instead having barrel walls thicker than most muskets of the period.
Get the 20 gauge, it will have a thicker barrel than the 16 gauge as Jim has said both will be the same outside diameter.I was hoping for the Fowler, but at the moment, I am torn. When Jim said that this was for shot only, it stopped my enthusiasm. I was hoping for a gun I could use for both shot AND ball as a smoothie. Then I also saw that what Jim was contemplating was akin to a Trade gun. I'm not one for the looks of the Trade gun. Yes, I know many people have them and shoot them, but the looks of them are just not my cup of tea. There is the Smooth-bore Colonial, of course, but that one looks so much like the Woodsrunner which I already have.
I just don't know. I am probably overthinking this, but there I am.
Don't worry about responding trying to influence my thinking. I will come to a decision one way or another on my own. Just my two cents and blowing off some steam.
Besides, I sooooooo like the looks of that Cherry-stocked Southern Mountain that TDM made.
The Doc is out now.
I know the Colonial looks alot like the Woodsrunner, but the Colonial is a good shooter with either.I was hoping for the Fowler, but at the moment, I am torn.
