Appropriate hooks to display muzzleloader

Hello,

My father just gave me a beautiful muzzleloader he made in the 60s. I would like to display it either above my fireplace or over my front door on iron hooks (thank you for the very informative posts from March 2010, I am leaning towards over the front door).

Where can I purchase the hooks? Where should the hooks be placed on the muzzleloader? At what angle should it be displayed?

You can buy things like these but I prefer to drill a hole in antler tines and epoxy a wood screw inside them and use that to hang guns and other stuff on. The same could be done with a wooden dowel.

If you go to www.longrifle.com, and peruse their items "contemporary" for sale, there are nice forged iron hooks just for hanging a gun. I don't remember the prices, but he makes some pretty stuff.
By the way, you ought to take it down every now and then and shoot it.

Yep. That guy makes very nice hangers and at a reasonable price.
