I was just told that the used flinter I bought in October has a Sharon barrel on it. It is 33" 62 cal. rifled 1-66 with 1" flats and a coned muzzle. Previous owner says he built the rifle in the early "80s" Anyone know about the Sharon barrel company? Thanks, Stubert

Yep, Sharon barrels were as good as any barrel that can be bought today.

It sounds like you have a shooter there.

Those Sharon barrels are simply no good. You had best send it to me post hast so I can properly dispose of it. Preferably by wearing it out on the target range and in the hunting field.

I have a parts gun made up of T/C lock parts and a Sharon barrel. Its still a very good shooter 25 years after I bought it used.

I would expect your gun to be a good shooter. The Sharon company has changed hands several times since the 1980's. Each time the barrels were recognized for being high quality and accurate.

If the bore is in good shape you have a good gun.

I had a flinter with one and it was an excellent barrel!
There is one on ebay right now if anyone is hunting one.

I used a Sharon 13/16" 42" .36 barrel for the first rifle I built. It is still shooting well after thirty some years of rather heavy use.

Back in those days you had a choice of a Douglas, Sharon for a mid-range quality barrel similar to what GM sells now. High buck was a Bill Large and a few others. Low price was some strange Spanish and Italian imports that run from very good to downright horrible.

Just a year or so after I got my barrel they went off the radar. I had heard later they sold out the black powder line and the Montana Barrel Company bought thier machines.

I`ve been looking at a smoothbore on TOTW that has a Sharon barrel .62 Cal and is also 30" in length..I had one years ago and it was a shooter..

Sharon Barrel, I just noticed this topic and would like to say that I have a custom Kentucky/Penns. It was made around 1981 or 1982. A buddy at my club told me it was a Sharon It's 42" and 50 cal, coned muzzle etc. How do I know for sure w/o removing the barrel. It does shoot very nice and goes bang every time. Any input would be apprecitated. Thanks

I removed the barrel on my rifle and could not find any marks of any kind, anywhere.
