I need some help in dating & ID'ing this Walker revolver. Under the loading lever it is stamped S MARCO("A"is missing in front of the "S")...it is a profusely and nicely engraved revolver..having a brass/gold(??) ring around the cylinder at nipple cuts..and also 2 similar rings at muzzle..entire frame NOT Blued is engraved as well as t'guard/backstrap and frame in front of the cylinder..it has proof markings on Cylinder loading openings..nothing at nipple area.I will gladly email photos to assist you. I cannot locate any date info on this revolver anywhere It is obviously an early model due to 3digit Ser.#

Next to the proof marks there should be a rectangular box with some letters or roman numerals stamped in it.

The letters represent the date the gun was proofed.
Follow this link and compare the markings with the chart to determine the guns age. http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/236956/

It sounds like you have one of the collectors style.
My "Blue Book of Modern Black Powder Values" doesn't say anything about special engraved models but that isn't unusual.
Several of the Italian gun companies over the years have made engraved models on special order from some of the companies who sell special Collector Coins and similar items.

There are probably a few people who collect guns like yours which could make it fairly valuable but finding them to sell it could be a problem.

Putting wear and tear on it by shooting it would decrease its collector value so the decision as to what to do with it is up to you.
