i bought this blade from Gary Kelley. it's D2 and wicked sharp. elk bone handle and rawhide wrap. i'm looking forward to september and opening day of fall bow season to try it out on the forst deer of the season. i plan on handing it down to my 2 year old son when he is ready to hunt. maybe by then i will have tried my hand at blade making as well.

i had to buy the leg bone as well. i have never had the opportunity to hunt elk yet. i had some white tail leg bones from last years hunting season but they were to small for this blade. as far as which leg bone on that elk.....?

Thats a nice knife like the leg bone handle I thought of doing one with deer leg bone myself :front:

thanks for the comments gents. i think i might change the rawhide wrap. it looks a little to manufactured. i'll try it with a wider strip of deer rawhide.

yes it is his #1 blade. is it ok to post his link? he has some really nice blades for those guys that want a good blade but can't make on for ourselves.....yet anyways. LOL

I added The Blade Maker to out list of edged weapons in our links section... :hatsoff:

Fine looking blade you have there! If it functions as well your son will have a great keepsake someday.

Britches :hatsoff:

nice knife i have been wanting to make one from a deer leg bone i think there cool lookin nice knife :front:

if you guys are looking to use a deer leg bone make sure it's a big deer. i tried to use a thigh bone from a big doe and it wasn't even close to being big enough for this 7.5 inch blade. i had to get a elk bone from Gary. he is going to help me with directions on how to make a sheath for it so i'll keep you all posted. thanks again gents.
