Here's a clue, a spare nipple from my Armi-Sport Kentuckian rifle fits perfectly. I still would like to know the thread size for ordering purposes, thanks.

That 8mm X 1mm nipple seems to be pretty big for a A&H rifle.

The thread would be a few thousandths of an inch larger than 5/16" in diameter with a thread pitch of 25.4 tpi.

I think it would be a good idea for Blackfingers to take the existing nipple out of the gun so he can get the threads measured.

Stores like Ace and True Value or a good Auto Parts store will be able to tell him just exactly what the thread is.

Then he can look at Track of the Wolf or other suppliers to see if they don't have some #11 sized cap nipples with that thread.

Thanks Guys! I believe the gun was originally a percussion cap ignition gun, we all know these musket cap nipples are available as an accessory. Off to True Value I go! Then to TOTW, who told me today it may be 6x1mm, but I won't buy them unless they are the correct nipples. Thanks again.

OK here's the skinny,
Track of the Wolf to the rescue
Give these guy's a call or e-mail them with your question http://www.trackofthewolf.com/List/Item.aspx/807/1

They list on the first page the ERI-S @ 8x1.25mm
And the MRI-S @ 8x1mm

Both of these are for a #11 cap (conversion for musket) and both have listings for Armi-Sport, with the top one listed with AH.

Now that's a scary small change in the pitch size of the thread. It's going to be tuff to tell the difference. I'd take the nipple you have that fit's down to the local hardware store and try it in a nut of each size listed above.

And/or order both from Track and exchange the one that doesn't work. You'll end up spending a little more for shipping back-n-forth but at least you'll have the right one.

Good luck, :v

 750k2, just returned from Auto Zone, where I learned finally the thread size, 1/4x28. I really thought it would be Metric, but it isn't. Thanks for the input everybody, problem :hatsoff: solved! Randy

Glad to see that you found the correct nipple thread size. I was going to tell you that mine took a 1/4 X28 thread but I see that you figured it out all on your own. Good on ya, mate.
