Received an A&H mountain rifle today, ordered about a week ago by faxing the form from the website. Rifle is pretty much as advertised...wood is very plain, for being called "Fancy", but overall, a fairly authentic looking Hawken-style rifle...at least the equal of the two Lyman GPR's I own. Trigger adjusment screw is very loose, but lock/triggers work properly, front sight is not on backwards  and inletting and browning are okay. Barrel is marked Spain. Bottom line, in my case at least, my pig-in-a-poke is well worth the money.

I noticed the web site had a new inventory list. Has the model, number available, and price. I am very tempted, afraid my wife would use it on me.

The first thing I did was Locktite the trigger adjustment screws. I had one go loose on my Trapper pistol so I've taken to using it on all of them.

I thought the wood was very plain on the flintlock I received, but the percussion gun had nice figure on most of the stock. I think it's just luck of the draw.

I received a percussion Mountain rifle yesterday. Stock was very plain for a "fancy" stock. I would grade the inletting around the lock a C-. The lock and trigger seem to work well. The rear sight did not have the notch cut out. When I looked down the barrel, it was very dark and took a lot of work to get it clean. The inside of the bore was coated with a thick, reddish-brown coating. The browning job was also pretty thin. I would say that it wasn't up to the quality of my Lyman GPR, but still worth the price. I may redo the barrel with LMF Browning solution. I could see a few sanding marks in the finish, but maybe I'm getting picky since I've built a few myself.
