I am looking into the availability of Adams Revolvers. Is there any such animal out there, other than an original?
It was a 6 shot double action .44cal English handgun patented in 1857. The reason I am asking is that Morgan's men were outfitted with them in July of 1862, and I think it would be nice to have one.

There are no replicas of either Adams or Tranter revolvers.

However, there are plenty of the real thing for sale over here in UK where they were made.

Figure on a starting price for a revolver only of around $1200 and go north from there. Boxed and fitted-out Tranters start around $3000 and go higher, much higher, very fast.

Don't forget the Beaumont-Adams revolver, as well.

Have a look here - http://www.oldguns.co.uk/2.html

Hi,
If you like Adams revolvers you may be interested in this book: http://books.google.com.ar/books?id=0LFCAAAAYAAJ&pg=PP7&ots=QsvPB-bye8&dq=%2Btranter%2Brevolver&lr=&output=text

The page is in spanish but if you click on pdf, you can dowload this book published in 1858 about the Adams revolver.

I get a Tranter revolver some month ago and it is an incredible gun!
By the way: most Adams and Tranter revolvers were 5 shoters.

The only replicas I've ever seen were made by Andy Baumkircher. You can get an original cheaper. Try Gunbroker.com auctions.

On a recent trip to Sidney ( Australia) I have seen quite a few ( arround $900 to 1700 in some gun shops. As I understand you can buy them here without any permit and they could be shipped to the US....
Might be worth checking into it...
