It was a good turn out (for modern times. I doubt we will ever see thousands any more )There were over six hundred registered. The weather was hot and dry to start and rainy at the end. But there were no problems that I was aware of and all of those around where I was camped had a good old time.I did not compete much due to a badly sprained ankle. But I still had a good time. It was a relief to spend ten days with no talk of any president after Jackson or political action after the Removal Act of 1838. As usual every one was helping each other and enjoying good company. If only people in modern times would help each other as buckskinners do!

I tore down Saturday. My canvas bottom edges are a little damp yet. I've not headed home yet but plan to soon. We had a good time at Cooper's Lake in Slippery Rock, PA. It was voted to come back there in 2018. I'm sorry to say I will not be returning there. The I-79 traffic all day & night is more than I want to hear. It did get quiet Friday morning around 3:00 am for a minute and a half though...

The traffic noise was a problem to some. but after last year's Eastern, having good roads to and from your camp site was worth the noise to me, and many others. The sad fact is it is hard to find a "primitive site" that is also easy to get in and out of.I myself do not like having to be pulled through mud by a four wheel drive tractor. :idunno:

I left early (Tuesday afternoon) because the weather for the rest of the week didn't sound very good and I was in a diamond sleeping on the ground. The thought of sleeping on and under soaked blankets for three nights just didn't seem very appealing.
While I was there though I thoroughly enjoyed it. Totally by accident I camped close to the range, and shot every match I could, even managing to place second with a pistol I'd never shot before. I noticed the traffic noise to a degree, but I guess it helped a lot for once to be so hard of hearing. If I am able, I will go back in 2018.

I stayed until Saturday afternoon. Leaving early you missed a beautiful rainbow on Friday night. Yea there was a lot of rain before the rainbow!. If I was better at photo bucket I would post a picture of the rainbow! :idunno:
