Bags with tapestry

I have noticed more bags being made using tapestry in various ways. I don’t recall seeing this done in the past. I like what I see as some are quite attractive. Is this a contemporary thing or is there documentation of the use of tapestry material for bags? I would think such material would not be available to those who were not well to do. In what time period might this usage occur?

Contemporary as far as I know. Seems to me that briars would tear them up.

Don't think this would do for the PC police, but makes an attractive trim for the common muzzleloading enthusiast. Kind of like the Inkle weaving stretch being used by some weavers to peddle their straps.

It is definitely contemporary.
