I have built five Bedford County long rifle over the past four years. I have used pre-cut stocks. I always find that the balance point which I think should be around where the ramrod enters. The stock is always too far back. How do I change the weight, and get the balance point to be in its correct position? Any ideas? On the last rifle, I drilled into the butt and inserted lead weights.

I always thought the point of the entry pipe would be too far forward. In either case, it's a matter of personal preference so......

Well a swamped barrel would help or you could always run a shorter barrel too if you did not want to counter weight it. Of course other option is to run it like it is. I got a 32 cal with a A-weight 42" swamped barrel and it balances and holds great.
