Used pigskin and cane to make this ball bag. Cane has nodes every few inches, and there is a swelling at each node. If you cut just below the node you wind up with a nice raised ring to help keep the bag and spout firmly together. Slipped the mouth of the bag over the cane section, bound it evenly and tightly with flax twine, then melted beeswax and rubbed it into the twine. After more than ten years of use it hasn't budged. I like to tuck the bag into my belt with the spout folded over and hanging down, I can get a ball with one hand.

Very nice, super simple rig. I love it. :thumbsup: I've got some scraps of elk hide that would great work for that. I suspect that the right sized leg bone would work for the spout too. Thanks for the idea. :hatsoff:
 
Very nice...So many good ideas on this forum..Thank you..Never gave cane a thought....Now to find some in .600 cal.
