I cleaned my new Cabelas Blue Ridge rifle, and I noticed a "Loose" spot almost right under the rear sight. My jag was snug until this spot. It's a brand new rifle,and I have never shot it.Any advise would be appreciated.I have not noticed any exterior bulging on the barrel.

Get one of those bore lights that will drop down into the barrel and you might see what is going on. Or just take it back, unfired and ask for an exchange. If they tell you it is not a problem, ask who handles their insurance and could they please put it in writing that it is no problem.
Before you shoot it is the optimum time to take it back for a exchange.
From what I have been told by 2 dif. barrel manufacturers (have had several barrels of such defect over the years) that happens because of power fluctuations when boring or reaming the barrel.
Most mass produced barrels are generally not individually given a full inspection for defects when they are finished, they are spot checked. Thus your barrel could look fine on the outside yet have a imperfection in the bore.
Take the rifle back & get a new one. I doubt they will swap just the barrel, most likely swap the entire rifle.

Yes it won't be a Cabela's problem, as they are a major seller for Pedersoli, they will simply pass the rifle back to them, so they should not have a problem helping you.

I am and always have recommended returning before messing with. So, if you are concerned take it back untouched.
But I would make sure it is clean and is not some crudded up packing grease or something. :hmm:

Decided to return it. This makes the second rifle I have had to return. The first was a pitted barrel. I am beginning to wonder if all Cabelas has is seconds from the factory. Maybe thats why there on sale. Has anyone else had these problems with Cabelas Pedersoli Blue Ridges ?
You have had unfortunate bad luck. I really doubt any large retailer or manufacturer would deliberately buy or ship seconds.

I had the same problem with the same type rifle about 20 years ago with Cabellas. It had a supposed rust brown finish that looked as though it hade been left in a leaky barn for a long time. Too bad the product hasn't improved since then. You know they never look inside the boxes of whatever gun it is that you buy. It is simply pulled from a warehouse shelf and shipped. GF
my armi sport rifled musket i bought at cabelas came with rust in the barrel... ****** me off! thankfully i noticed the rust when i was still at the store and they agreed refund some of my money ($50) or take it back. i took the refund and put some work into cleaning it up.

Is there anyone you can depend on anymore, or is it "Buyer beware"? I am beginning to wonder about Pedersoli quality. The two guns I have replace should have never left the factory in that condition. Especially the one with the pitted barrel,It was so obvious.
I would hope it's not the case but Cabela's might be selling returned rifles at 'good deal' prices.
If this were true, that would explain things like pitted bores and ringed barrels.
Some newcomers to the world of muzzleloading might be willing to accept a gun with these defects and just assume it's the kind of quality that Pedersoli delivers to everyone.

Cabelas has always had a good return policy. In the past, they had a satisfaction guaranteed, no questions asked, return policy. I think that's still the way it is.
Based on the number of worn out boots I see in their Bargain Cave, I'm sure that some take advantage of this generous policy.
