I'm looking to build a Squirrel gun off of a more or less finished Hawken stock I'm having a real pain of a time finding a suitable barrel. I'm working with a 13/16" channel and all I've been able to find in .32 is the always back ordered 42" GM barrel. Too long and although it's an option I don't really want to have to hand it over to my machinist buddy for some surgery. Anybody have any hints here? Should I just fork out the extra dough for a custom Oregon? Also, as I only have a spare percussion lock for this little project, do you guys recommend Track's powder drum alignment tool or some other solution? Thanks.

Green mountain isn't the only barrel company there is out there. It sounds like you should try to contact some other sources for barrels. A good company that isn't on the forum links is RICE BARRELS. The link is www.ricebarrels.com . I like the idea of a .32 squirrel rifle on a Hawken stock sounds like a fine rifle..............watch yer top knot

Tip Curtis will probably have the barrel in Grn.Mrn. in stock. (615) 654-4445. Also Cains Outdoors usually stocks an assortment of Grn Mtn.
For a Rice barrel call Rice Barrel Company or Buckeye Barrels.
And there is Bobby Hoyt barrels.
and also Ed Rayl barrels.
And the DeHass barrels.
A Goodoien barrel is a premium barrel but :hmm: seems like the smallest bore he has is a .38 cal. But they are hand lapped Match Grade & Very accurate.

Well, unfortunately the nice people at the Department of Environmental Protection feel that .36 is the max for small game and .45 the minimum for large game and having the large bores taken care of...

Well, that is simple....... Just shoot big squirrels :) They would then be big game, right ? :hmm:

Give Tip a call, he will most likely have it as last time I was there he had a whole pallet of barrels from Grn. Mtn.
