Hey again all.

Im getting ready to purchase a stock and components from pecatonica river. But im unsettled on the caliber.

Its definatly going to be a lehigh rifle, with a 7/8", 42" long straight octagon barrel in either .45 or .50.
How much heavier will the .45 be over the .50?

Thanks

The difference will be between roughly 12 oz., and a pound. It'll cost a few bucks more, but I would consider a swamped barrel. It makes a tremendous difference in balance, and handleing, and you'll pare a little more weight off. An "A" weight barrel in forty-five will be a dream to hold, and carry.

I don't think anyone makes a "A" weight in a 45 cal. Do they ? I think the largest cal. you can get in a "A" weight is a .40 cal. And the .40's are so flimsy if you are in Ohio & someone passes gas in California, the barrel will bow !! :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

IMHO, go with a "B" weight 40, 45 or 50 cal. swamped barrel.

Birddog 6, I stand corrected, "B" weight is the slimist they go. The 45cal in a 44 inch barrel seems as slim as an "A" weight.
