I saw an original German gun in Jim Chambers' collection that had a round and swamped barrel. Surely very rare, but they do exist.

any one know who makes an octagon to round swamped smoothbored pistol barrel?
Vern Davis has them on sale at the moment for $65. His add is ni Muzzle blasts magazine. Or you might google him.

You can't Google ole Vernon C Davis. He don't believe in these computer things (or at least, he doesn't have a web site).
You can call him though His number is 1-614-761-2568

His ad in this months Muzzleloader Magazine says he has a Octagon to Round pistol barrel, 10 inches long in 20 and 24 guage. The drawing shows the octagon as being tapered, but you should ask him about it before ordering it. Steel $75 or Brass $85.
He also has a swamped 10 inch barrel in .50 cal, rifled $80.

I believe he as some other pistol barrels which aren't in the ad because I bought my 3/4 octagon .40 caliber barrel from him about 6 months ago and he talked like he had several of them.

Wal Gollllllllooooooooolllllyyy!
Ah didn't see his octagon to round barrels either but I bet if someone called him, he would have some.

While you've got him on the phone, tell him his Links section is in need of a direct link to the muzzleloadingforum.com
In fact, while your talking to him you might suggest that he should join us. :) I'm sure his presence would be a nice addition to our site. :) :)

I sure wished that I had known about his company before I ordered my last set of parts. His lock and barrel prices are better than some of the other companies. How is his service?

When I ordered my barrel from him, as I indicated up above, he didn't have a site. I called him and told him what I wanted. He took my phone number and said he would have to check to see if he had the 3/4 inch octagon X .40 caliber pistol barrel I wanted.
About 4 minutes later I got a call from him. He had the barrel but at that time, wasn't set up to take MasterCharge so I would have to write him a check.
We must have talked about 5 minutes and I got to feeling guilty about running up his phone bill. He said don't worry about it and we proceeded to talk for another half an hour about all sorts of things.
I mailed him the check the next day. Less than a week later, I got my barrel. ::

Vern has been in this business for years and knows the business well. IMO, he's a good guy to work with. :)

If those prices on his web site are current, I have a feeling that I'll be doing a lot of business with him. ::
