Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
Douglas made good barrels. If it is cheap enough, and new enough go for it. Neglected used barrels frequently aren't worth the trouble to clean 'em up, but new, old stock in good condition are worthwhile investments, if they can be had cheap enough.
I've used both and I would say "6 of one and half a dozen of the other". The main difference being that Douglas bbls were drilled in octagon stock. GM bbls are drilled round stock then machined octagon which comes closer to guaranteeing that there will not be any run out from the drill bit.
