Would like to get input on comparing a Douglas regular straight barrel to Green Mountian made barrels what are your preferences and why?

Douglas made good barrels. If it is cheap enough, and new enough go for it. Neglected used barrels frequently aren't worth the trouble to clean 'em up, but new, old stock in good condition are worthwhile investments, if they can be had cheap enough.

I've used both and I would say "6 of one and half a dozen of the other". The main difference being that Douglas bbls were drilled in octagon stock. GM bbls are drilled round stock then machined octagon which comes closer to guaranteeing that there will not be any run out from the drill bit.
