This is a knife sheath that I made a few years ago. It is done on brain tanned buck skin with a buffalo rawhide liner and number 11 Czech seed beads.

The tribe of it don't matter that ain't easy to do! :rotf:

I tried some of this and I decided I had two thumbs on one hand.

After working, all day and starting over a hundred times, dropping beads breaking the thread, starting a new row to tight on the last,.........etc. etc.. I gave up! :surrender:

So when I say it ain't easy I do know a little about what I am talking about.

All kidding aside I do appreciate the work that goes into a piece like that.

As too the tribe from which the pattern is from I will let Fisher address that question.

That makes my hands hurt just lookin at it :shocked2:
Very nice work and like Cliff said it ain't easy.

I did this sheath in a Lakota style design. It is not a direct copy of any one piece, just my own rendition. Thanks!

The knife is an ontario knife co . butchers knife that I put antler scales on. Not really period correct but a good knife just the same. Thanks for asking...As far as posting photos you need to start by going to photo bucket and opening an account, its free! then put your photos on there , then when you start a new topic on this forum use the little photo caption right above this dialoge boy and then select the photo you want from photo bucket and past it in the url screen that will be on the top of the page. I,m sorry I cant explain it better, It took me about a mont to figure it out but its actually easy once you get it,Good luck !!!!

Fisher, first thanks to you and Jack Wilson for the help. Your knife is an Old Hickory I believe, and for mid-late 19th century Plains it is entirely correct. What was traded to the Indians were not the big Bowie/hunting knives in the movies, they were given cheap, reliable kitchen cutlery. For early 19th century/18th you can grind down the upward swoop on the spine tip into a very archaic and acceptable piece. I go to the trouble of filing the ridges and as much lettering as I can off the sides of the blade.

Thanks again to you and Jack, and great work on the pair.

Thats the same knife,They make a few other shapes of blades too. As for the beading... you can learn it just like I did, does require a bit of patience. Actually it has helped me to learn patience.
