Making a five claw , bear claw necklace with beads. I'm stumped and need some advice. What to use as a tie off in the back. Anyone got suggestions?

Braintan...?
Much depends on how you plan to string the claws & beads. That said, the only traditional Bear-claw necklaces I've see were made with Grizzly claws. In that light, however you want to make the tie works because it is a modern piece.

Making out of black bear, the last one I had was strung with leather but can't remember how it tied off. Was a very nice item.

I have about a dozen bear claw necklaces. I wear one every waking hour and have for half a century. I have found leather rots fairly quickly when in almost constant contact with your skin. Artifical sinew (I know :barf: ) does not tie well and can cause loss. Most recently I have been using black cotton cord and fastening with a magnetic barrel clasp. Works well and I haven't had a loss since starting this. The clasps can be found at Hobby Lobby. And, yes, I have seen many black bear necklaces and grizzly also. Plus, I have a polar bear claw also.

You got any photos of them like to see how there laid out. I m thinking of using a black waxed wing tip lace. and at each end do a nail not attaching a small section of deer hid to the clasp.

No photos. But, if time permits I might try to post a couple. My computer is pretty limited in use since I "upgraded" to Win 10. But, I'll try. Mostly when I get a new claw I just lay it on the bench and line up beads, bones or whatever I have in a manner that pleases my eye. When done I string and add a clasp. You can buy boards with grooves that make the task easier.

I wonder what was used on the originals? Would braided horse hair last longer?
What do polar bear claws look like compared to black bear and grizzly?
