With having had several heavy frosts, and snow on the ground for a couple weeks now, we figured the bears were probably hibernating. Not so, as last night, we had one in our garbage. I suspose I should take a picutre of the lid, as it's got puncture holes all round the top from the bite marks to open it. Smart bear, but a relatively small one. The big boar of previous years seems to be gone as this was his territory.

I had two bears in my garage 3-4 weeks ago but they weren't there of their own free will and they were hanging ::
I too thought they had all gone to bed but a friend said he's still seeing tracks in the snow.

I had one under the bow stand two and a half weeks ago but that was the last I have seen of him. He was a small bear and did not stay long. In fact if I had to guess I would say this one's mother was shot gun season (or she was in the area watching me in the tree ::). He was not all that big.

This spring I had a big one come in and he did a lot of damage around the yard to all the bird feeders. A couple years ago, I had one roll off a steel 55 gallon barrel that had a lid with a locking ring on it.. They never were able to open it, but rolled it off into the woods about 50 yards. Just some scratch marks and a dent or two was all they could do to it.
