Finally..my first BP bear! Shot it over bait approx 35 yards, 14 feet i was in a stand. I went out last night and the wind and rain were a happening all day but calmed down towards evening. As legal shooting time was coming to a close, i see a black form coming through the pines Very slowly...Kentucky percuss with 490 prb and 90 grains of fffg did the trick. It ran after being shot. Since it was getting dark and i didnt relish the thought of a wounded bear at dark I waited till this am. My son and i went out along with the neighbor to find it with a 12 gauge and Buckshot. We found it. it didnt go far. I didnt hear the death moan that people say you should hear so i figured it went further. Died at about 25 yards from the bait. I LOOOVE the roundball. I dont care what JIm Shockey says..the prb kills!! I have to weigh and register it today but the neighbor says it may be close to 300 lbs. Now I can catch up on some fishing and ruffed grouse hunting.

I have a dig camera so i will attempt to post some pics. i did have some reservations about using the 50 cal PRB for bruin. that is over now

Congratulations on bagging a bear and PRBs really do perform. By the way.... using buckshot on large game is illegal in Wis. even for dispatching wounded game.....Fred

Congratulations. What are your plans for it? Do you render the lard?
