Hello all you skinners out there.....

I have a beaver tail that someone "tanned" (I dont' think they did a very good job) and made into a kind of pouch. The thing has become dry, very hard and brittle. Is there some method I could use to make it pliable again, so that I could make a knife sheath or something out of it?

:hmm:

neet's foot oil would work, I think. I rescued an old pair of boots with it.

you should go to Tandy a pick up some liquid saddle sop and some Dr, Jackson's Hide Rejuvenator also glycerin saddle sop works will placed in a sauce pan and melted with enough water to make it soluble then pour it on to the hide and let it drink it in after that use the hide rejuvenator I have restored a lot saddles and other leather products this way

if youre not close to a tack shop for the saddle soap Ill bet something from a sports store for rejuvinating baseball mitts would be the same stuff. I use the mink oil spray on all my stuff to break it in and moisten it up when It gets dry.
