I used a 60/40 mix for a while for lubing hunting patches, should be good for leather too. But you may want to try a thinner mix first then add to it till you reach where you want to be.

I have some genuine Bear Grease that is 50% bear fat, and 50% beeswax. It doesn't smell. it is made to be used to seal boots. It should work on any leather. YOu might want to heat the leather before you rub this on. That is recommended by the company for use with boots.

2-1 Bear fat to beeswax is what I mixed last time. It works pretty well as a patch lube or on leather.
