always wanted a short belly gun finally got one made after seeing a post by Joe Yanta-- ( think it was Joe)-- and the one he made, i found an old h/a and went to work on it . although they are perhaps the second most useless friearm made they are indeed a lot of fun to shoot this one was a .45cal but now is a .50 smooth the bbl is only 6" long but shoots o.k. to 15-t-20yrds but at the range they were actually used it is deadly . :thumbsup: :haha:

Looks like what they used to call an overcoat pistol. Not a deep cover gun but easily concealed under a coat. I've been playing with the idea of a .50 cal Derringer with a slightly longer barrel that could be concealed under a jacket. Backwoodsman had an artical on an original screw barrel Derringer that took a 40+ grain charge with a .45 cal ball. That would be a really deadly little pistol. Wish I had the skills to make it happen.

I like it Two Bellies! Real fine work you done! You said it was a.45 , now .50 smoothbore. :hmm: Soooo you rebored it? You do it or have it done? :thumbsup:
 
i re-bored it on my drill press .i just used a 1/2' bit and then polished it with emery cloth on a stick :thumbsup:

Im thinking of making a blanket gun from a traditions kentucky rifle kit.
