For nipple alignment I need to bend a hammer about 1/8 of an inch. Should I do it cold? Put a torch to it first? It is case hardened and I do not want to hurt that.

You can crank it side to side cold with no problem, but down is harder because it's difficult to get a good grip.(caplock hammer) I heat mine until they bend easily with a pair of pliers. Then just let it cool on it's own.

Thanks guys now if I could only get the #@!!!??"#%$# thing off of the lock. LOL!! I only need about an 1/8 of an inch across to center the thing. It fires fine but looks wierd. :hmm:

Well got the hammer off and luck has it the angle it needed to be bent was staighter so I put it between two pieces of hard wood and gave it a couple of whacks with a 16oz hammer. Seemed to work ok.

Will this hurt the temper of the steel at all? I'm new to messing with steel. :thanks:
