As new no box never fired! Paid 150 out the door. One question is what suze ball do I need? Just thought I’d share! Enjoy!

My first black powder revolver was a 31. I cast .323 balls. I was a teen and filled the cylinders, so no idea what the charge was.
That one is a beauty.

I had the same "problem/dilemma" several years ago,I bought a ASM Navy 1851 in .44 at a pawnshop for a $100.00 . A good buy, I thought and still do. But I didn't know what sized balls it required. The good folks here (except for 1 or 2 smart mouths) steered me toward the.451 or 454. Now if I could only figure out what size caps to use?

If you have the means to do so measure the mouths (front) of the cylinder. I don't recall the exact numbers but that has something to do with the required ball-size.Like I said earlier the good folks here will steer you right. Oh, I stated I thought my ASM was a good buy, they threw in the Slim Jim holster too.

Now, Eutycus, use the calipers to measure the tip of your ASM Navy's nipple. If the tip measures 0.155", the cap size should be #10 CCI. If the tip measures 0.165" then get the #11 caps. If you are real lucky, then hope to find Remmington #10.

It’s either a # 10 or # 11 cap. I use RWS 1075 caps on all my BP revolvers. They work extremely well and fit both 10 and 11 nipples AND are readily available for purchase. I get mine from Antique Travelers and Traders in TX. You can order online. They have BP too!
