HA! Thought that would get your attention. Anyway, when it comes to round ball shootin' out of your smoothie, what has your experience shown to be the all around best, most consistently measured, best performing round balls made?

Of the few brands I've tried, I've had the best accuracy and most consistent sizing with Hornady's swaged balls.

I'd agree 100% with that claim in the calibers they stock :thumbsup: , but they don't make anything bigger(er) :wink: than 58s :( ...

Yep, I use Hornady's exclusively in my .45 and .50 rifles, but I'm after a .62 and as you said, they don't make 'em over.58. Does that gent in Georgia have a website where I can get an address/phone#? Thanks for all the help

No website, but here ya' go!

Eddie May Round Balls
159 Ridley Rd.
Chatsworth, GA 30705
706-581-8225

* $10/100 cast roundballs in 62-cal (ordered April 2008)

* Ships in 'fixed cost' USPS package

Eddie was able to stuff (1500) 0.600" cast Rbs into that fixed < $10 US Postal shipping box. Man, that box must have killed my Postal Delivery person! It was was smaller but much heavier than a 12-volt wet cell Group 27 battery :shocked2: !

I called him to discuss this order and he must have started casting before he even got my check, as I got them but days later, all the way north to Bahstin (that's 'Boston, MA' for you Southerners :wink: ).

I have had good luck with my own cast balls and Hornady swagged balls, a smoothbore can be pretty forgiving about what you feed it.I always cast the .600 balls for the smoothrifle and the .550 and .562 balls for the Fusil, I usually buy some .570 and .535 balls for this gun as I do not have a .570 mold and can't find the.535 one.In the long run if you shoot the .62 much casting your own is a pretty good way to go. it will probably shoot well with a .600 down to a .580 with the right patch/card/wad combo.

Many Thanks to all for the help! Oh, and Mr Flint62, I'm all the way out west...Western MASS, that is. Out here on the frontier we pronounce it Boss-tin! Just follow Old Boston Post Road until you get to the little town of Indian Orchard (a few miles shy of Springfield) and here I be.
