I'm looking for a book that has good illustrations of Kentucky Percussion/Flintlock pistols. Color better than b&w. Not a book of repros, I have a few of those. What title would you recommend?

The only book that I have that is that specific is "Thoughts on the American Flintlock Pistol" by S. E. Dyke, published by Shumway. Orig pub in 1959, my copy is the repub paperback from 1974. Illustrations are black & white, side views only. Gives an idea of what existed but no where near enough info to make a copy. Hopefully there is something better out there.

The Kentucky Rifle by Merrill Lindsay has very good color photos of a half-dozen pairs of some beautiful Kentucky pistols in the back.

I have Chandler and Whisker's book "The Kentucky Pistol", 1994. Chandler says in the Introduction "We have produced only 2000 copies of The Kentucky Pistol. Those who publish books like this one will realize the improbability of another edition. We doubt there will ever be more, so hold onto your copy. You own a rare book." The book has 225 pages with only the cover photo in color, but B&W photos of about 180 pistols, most all right and left views but many also top and bottom views. I typed the title in quote marks and the authors into Yahoo search engine and got image results of this book, but 9 color photos of pistols or parts of them. Those colored photos are not in this book, don't know where they come from. My book is as new except it is inscribed to me by Jim Whisker. You can find one for sale in Amazon or by rare book sellers, or I could sell mine. PM me if interested.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Herb, I wish I had asked my question here earlier, I would have made you an offer on your copy, as it is, although I haven't seen it yet, that was one I've bought based on the title alone.
I've seen the other titles mentioned but was unsure but since they were mentioned I ordered copies.

Additionally, I found a title "The Samuel E. Dyke Collection of Kentucky Pistols", wasn't much so I bought that as well, it seems to be 30 pages. Anyone know anything about the Dyke collection?

Coot, the title is different but has to be the same "S E Dyke", I'll wait to see before ordering "Thoughts..."

Any other suggestions?
