Have had this rifle (in flintlock) for a short time. I have been experimenting on targets, trying to determine my best load for hunting the local whitetail deer population. I am curious what those that have this rifle have settled on to be their best deer hunting load shooting a patched RB. Much thanks! Ken

Hi Ken, Welcome to the forum.
There are probably as may "favorite" loads as there are shooters when it comes to the .54 cal.
Personally, I prefer FFFg to FFg in my GPR, and I have settled on 80gr with a .535 ball and a .012 "tic" patch.

I would suggest you play around with your gun a bit, and see what it likes best. I always go up in a powder charge untill the groups start to change (open up)then I back down to where it's at it's best.
