I wonder when the best bargains are found at the Spring shoot in Friendship. Are there certain days when more "common Joes" are trying to sell there personal muzzleloaders? Also, I wonder how many vendors are there through the week versus the weekends? When should I go??? (First weekend, middle of the week, last weekend???) What do you think?

The first couple of times I went were mid-week. It was good. Well worth the trip.

Last time I went the first weekend and it was great! Bigger crowds and more stuff. More vendors open too. Might find a good deal before someone else snaps it up.
And grzrob is doing a Ferguson rifle demo the first Saturday. Should be interesting.

Can't say as to the last weekend. Never tried that. Maybe you could get a good last-minute deal before someone packs up to leave.

After being there several times, I would suggest being there, the first weekend, mid-week, and the last weekend, that way, you don't miss as much.
Because, there is way too much to see in "thirty days".

Skychief,

I've been going to Friendship for a long time. It ain't quite what it used to be but I try to walk around down there once or twice every shoot.

Bargains {as always} are where you find them but you got to be there. IMHO Friday before the shoot can be good. I try to get there REAL early on the first Sat. If I get tired I'll sit on the gaurdrail between the range and the primitive to see whats walkin around. I don't do the flea market.

By Tuesday evening some vendors are packing up. Get there before Wednesday if you are looking for most stuff.

Good Luck

I would say definatly the first weekend, preferably Saturday as early as you can. That is when the most people are there (some walking around with a rifle on their back and a sign telling how much they want), and the vendors are least picked over. Any real bargains are snapped up real quick. There might be some bargains to be had near the end of the week, but that is mostly what is left over, and as was said a lot of vendors leave by mid week. Since I go there mostly to shoot, I do not shop a lot, but always walk around some, especially if there is a bad weather day. Like last September when the tornado went through - that was exciting. Enjoy yourself, there is a lot to see, tough to see it all in one day, and you will be tired when you are through. Hope to see you there.

See ya, Jim/OH :hatsoff:

I like early in the week. Some of the fellows I want to see leave by Wed.

BTW on Monday the fellow from Olympus and I will be video taping flintlocks behind Gunmakers Hall. This is the slow motion stuff - film at 5000 fps and play back at 30 fps. We'll burn your video file on a CD while you wait.

Regards,
PLetch

Some of the vendors pack up about Wednesday so they can be at some other event the last weekend so come early.
