Made a all steel Betty lamp, here`s the start to finish project. I`m not endorsing the safety of such plan. :)

Heres a shot of an original one in relic condition. This was dug up somewhere in PA, at the site of a friends family homestead, where a log cabin once stood. The body is less than 1/32" in thickness. The hanger is about 1/8" tapered from forgeing. The remains of the hinged door is very thin. The tube I guess was gone, as well as the rest of the top.

Thanks for the pic Wick.
Mine has some of my own design in it, the tube inside of a tube is one of them, seems to work good. :)

Super seminar you have here, Lenn. Is there a wick in the inner tube or does it just suck up oil? I cant see what is making this work.

Yep a wick, 1/4 inch cotton cloths line rope.
Thanks BH.

Very cool. I needed that this morning. REA decided to crap the bed and not send juice, and we were stumbling around in the dark trying to get things done. Having just moved to this wicked dump, naturally my lamps could not be found. Betcha that is cured before the day is over. The whole town was out of juice till it was about time to go to work.

The shop that I was counting on floods everytime it dribbles rain, so I'm not sure how I'm going to set it up to keep my stuff dry. Aint happy with this, I'm tellin ya.

I'm going to be out on a mission in a week or two and I'm gonna check on some stuff down in the desert while I'm there, and if the Good Lords willin and the creeks dont rise, I'm gonna have something to send ya.

Hope all goes well BH.

By suggestion from another member I changed the cover handle so the whole lamp looks like a swan

Just curious what you are burning in the lamp there, Lenn, Jet Fuel? It sure is bright, and I know ya dont have much whale oil on hand.... :blah:

Neat little lamp, Pitchy. The outer tube, I assume, is to prevent branding you when handling? Or is it to catch drips, and if so, is there a connection to the reservoir?

Thanks guys, yep it`s so any drips can run back into the base.
