Big 45 Frontier metal cleaning pads

Today is the first I have heard of them. They look like the copper scrubbies we used in the sink for pots and pans. This one advertises it is made from an alloy that is harder than rust but softer than the bluing on your barrel. This seems like a dandy item to have for scrubbing out a stubborn crud ring in a barrel or getting rust out of a barrel. Has anyone used this item before ?? I see they are on Amazon fairly cheap.

They are PHENOMENAL!

They will take crud and/or rust off, but will NOT harm blueing or browning or any metal finish!

You can get the same thing at the grocery store.

I bought a pack and they work great to remove rust without hurting the blueing. A little bit goes a long way.

I have not seen any stainless pads at the grocery store. Could you share where you found them?

FYI, stainless steel pads WILL SCRATCH and damage a barrel or remove the finish! These 'Big 45' pads won't do either. They are a proprieitary blend of Monel, which is harder than rust, but softer than steel(s).

I didn’t know that these were something other than stainless - learn something new every day! Whatever they are made from they work

Interesting, will have to try these. Always used bronze wool, what Dad always used in his gunsmithing work.
