Hi guys, I'm looking for a cheap big bore single shot percussion pistol to shoot shot loads or whatever else I want to stuff in the muzzle. I keep seeing .50 and .54 caliber pistols but I was thinking something a little bigger might be more fun. Thanks for any help :thanks:

Thanks, those are nice looking pistols but I was hoping for apercussion lock for durability. Now If those took caps I'd be very happy. Theres nothing like a pistol that doubles as a club :imo:

Kinda hard to find a big bore percussion pistol. By percussion era it seems that pistols had shrunk the large flint military bores. I see some at Dixie though.

The LeMat revolver has a 20 gauge smoothbore barrel under the .44 caliber barrel. There's some firepower for ya...NINE .44 shots in the cylinder and a grand finale of a 20 bore!

I see the 1855 Dragoon pistol with detachable shoulder stock. It's a rifled .58 caliber.

Then the interesting Konig Leopold "salute" gun. It is a whopping .73 caliber smoothbore. But it is mainly a noisemaker I think.

You could always saw off a percussion shotgun. There ya go, a double barrel 12 gauge pistol!
I shoot an old Dixie "Tower" .67 smoothbore in flintlock. It looks a lot like the Middlesex Village 1756 British Sea Service pistol. A fairly big boomer.

See the weight on the Konig Leopold pistol? 6 1/4 pounds! Shoot once and club many times... GC

Yeah I do like the sound of that Konig Leopold, big and bad. Tha LeMat is cool also, unfortunately all those are out of my price range. I'm thinking more like a Traditions Kentucky .50 cal pistol kit for around $130 or a Lyman Plains .54 cal pistol kit for $170 but I was just curious if there were any that I had'nt seen. How hard do you think it would be to chop the Kentucky down to size a little because I'm looking for a compact(but not necessarly a derringer) pistol with a big bang that would be easier to carry than my hogleg Remmie 58? :thanks:

Hey Kiehlroy,
Loyalist arms lists a sea service pistol in .66 cal. for $256.00 U.S. The barrel is 6 1/2" and is percussion. That should be a great vermon getter! :imo:
