Bill has made two .72 barrels for me that I use on my underhammer. I have a picture of it under another topic.

He can make just about any caliber with any twist. I don't know if he does swamped barrels or not. Both of mine were straight tapered.

What size ball are you using in the .72? I called Bill and he said .715 but he uses a mallet to start it! I've read that his .72 cal is about .710
actual bore size and .700 is the right ball size.

The first thing I did with the Moody barrels was to lap them. I'm not anal about it. I just like to take out any machine marks, remove high spots and smooth the corners of the lands. I used 240 grit on my lead slug. Real important, as far as I'm concerned, bill uses the wide groove, narrow land method of rifling his barrels. They're a little easier to load than would be the narrow groove wide land system.

I'm using a .715 Rapine mould and .010 patch material slightly moistened by either holding in my mouth or a little Ballistol / water mix. I have no trouble at all loading the .715 balls.

Bill told me the same thing about using a mallet, but he was using a heavier ticking. It isn't necessary to use any extra force when using the thinner patch material.

My .715 balls cast with pure lead actually measure from .716 to .718. It's hard to get a ball that big to cast perfectly round. Unpatched they drop right down the barrel. So, as close as I can tell, my bores are a true .720.
