What would be a good black bear load for my 50cal Lyman trade rifle. 200-300 lb class, 75 yards or less

I'd go with a good conical like a Hornady Great Plains Bullet or a Buffalo Bullet with 90-100 grains of 2F.

Now if you're hunting over bait and shots are inside 40 yards I say go with a roundball and 90-100 grains of 2F.

Thanks for the info. I do have some 338 grain and 295 grain power belts they should be suffice..

My black bear/wild hog/deer load is a .490 roundball and 70 grs. of 3F Goex. I make sure to keep all my shots at under 75 yds.
