What a cool photo. ThanksI don’t know the date of this photo, but it’s the best one I’ve come across that shows their affinity for Trade Gun dragon side plates. Certainly would be a neat necklace to have.
I have read that, they were an impressive bunch.Osborne Russels' journal of a trapper tells about being jumped there by the blackfeet.
No telling!Do you think he bought the side plates?
Or did he kill the rifle owners and take them?
Looks like he’s smoking’ a joint too
Thought the same thing till I zoomed in. It's a clay pipe.Ya, I see another post said a pipe but both the object and the expression (0r not lol) on his face look like it was some pretty good stuff.
Yes I see it’s a pipe also. Must be doing payoteThought the same thing till I zoomed in. It's a clay pipe.
That's a definite possibility.Yes I see it also. Must be payote
I've seen that photo before and a later one taken in the 20th century of a old Blackfoot with the same type necklace. Maybe the same guy as an old man.id like to find that
I have Manitoba Swampy Cree in my heritage and also googled chants from split lake, Manitoba where my ancestors come from. They are very erie for sure. I'm proud to be Metis.I googled Lacota war chants once and its pretty Erie, no clue about how he got the side plates but them chants are not to be listened to before bedtime!
