Is the International Blackpowder Hunting Association still viable and are they still producing their quarterly magazine (Blackpowder Hunting)? Thanks, and if so, does anybody have a way to contact them? Skychief.

What a SHAME! They had a beautiful magazine with a lot of interesting reading. Anybody know of other BP/ BP hunting magazines available (besides Muzzle Blast)? Thanks, Skychief.

Besides Muzzle Blast, that is. I have been told that Blackpowder Hunting magazine has gone by the wayside...so, I am wondering if anything similar is published. Thanks guys! Skychief.

The Muzzleloader Magazine.

A traditional oriented magazine where BP Hunting had a lot of modern stuff in it...I did not renew Muzzleblasts, was not going to renew BP Hunting when it folded, but continue to get Muzzleloader Magazine.

They're gone under. It's a shame. I received a refund for my last subscription when they stopped printing.

Blackpowder Guns And Hunting Magazine...However they are more on the modern side.
Muzzleloader Magazine is a great mag but not focused just on hunting. They cover everything.

I really miss the IBHA. :(

On The Trail and The Backwoodsman are both good magazines, not strickly muzzleloading magazines but cover a lot of related stuff.

That was a fair Magazine in its time, if there are any ambitious writers out there that don't write for the few existing publications, I suspect moderate length articles could be posted here as a cyber Magazine part of this forum....Claude?

I have a couple of dozen back issues stashed away and often hunt up articles to re-read. I especially enjoyed the pieces on hunting in Africa with the old BP guns, and the profiles of the early explorer/hunters. Because I am as fond of BP cartridge guns as I am of muzzleloaders, it was an appealing publication, even if it had its share of ... aaaak! ... inline stuff.

I have got alot of blackpowder hunting magazines and muzzleloading hunter magazines off of ebay. All of the mags. that I got were in like new condition. The last mags. that I won was a lot of 39 mags. for $9.75 thats around 25 cent each. I thought that was a good deal.

I asked the same question on another forum some time ago and get this answer:

it (Black Powder Hunting)ceased publication last year. She told me that companies (especially large sponsors) wanted to put their funds into television programming... but frankly the magazine had become stale... with no change in format, uneven publication quality, poor editing, etc. Too bad because it was about the only source of its kind, but I had quit reading it. Very tired stuff mostly written by "bought and paid for" hacks.

Thanks
Martin

I wrote for, illustrated and dre a comic strip for Blackpowder Hunting magaine for several years under the name of Chainfire. Does anyone remember?

I subscribed to Muzzleloader mag. a very traditional mag. Let my subscription run out on Muzzleblast mag. I just don't like seeing articles about modern guns in a supposed to be traditional magazine, (muzzleblasts)flinch

Do you have the 1998 summer copy?

I was trying to get a copy of the Forsyth article.
