After years of excellent service my Lee Production Pot's spout clogged up completely with what looks like fine yellow sand, kind of formed a plug wich I cannot remove from outside or inside, don't want to drill, might cause more bad than good. Is there a way, maybe some kind of solvent, or whatever to dissolve this plug & clear the spout?

Oscar, I have had the same from the Lee pot Heinrich and I are using. All I did was to take a panel pin and bend it according to the channel in the valve and carefully wriggled it in there. It still does that sometimes but it gets it open.

Tx Titus,
Will try that. One bend only? approx. angle?
BTW Nicolas Yale has some old stock Lee moulds @ R 192.50 less 10% - .54 300gr REAL, .50 360gr Improved Minie, .45 200gr conical (for 44 pistol) .375 79gr RB

Thanks oscar.

I cant remember but it was at a bit of an angle. Got it right trough trial and error. Go slow and steady, be carefull not to marr the inside of the channel. :nono:  :v

That was my concern in the first place.

It only works for me to clear the channel while the pot is hot. The occasional clog seems to be the price paid for a small channel, but I've used one in which a friend enlarged the channel. Yeah, it never clogs but the lead gushes out far too fast for my tastes. Probably great for casting 2-pound fishing sinkers such as he is doing, but it's a train wreck for casting bullets.

Oscarb,

Like BrownBear, I can clear the spout on my pot while it's hot. I use a heavy needle and a pair of needle-nose pliers. The needle bends as needed to make it way up the channel. The lead makes it's way out and kinda clears out the crud. Wear gloves! I haven't drilled out either one of my pots but am considering it. Good luck......GW
