Well, I wanted to break her in on venison, but the season ended with no joy and it's another week till BP season in the Wolverine state, so I took me newly finished po'boy fowler out to take some tree-rats.
Had a ball left over, and had to do something with it, so I thought that I would bark one. After lining up on one in a tree, I decided that shooting a .600 galena pellet into the sky just wasn't smart, so I waited for a groudn target, hoping for a close head shot.
Instead, I lined up on a chubby Fox squirrel making his way to my log. I eased the cock back, drew a bead, and waited for him to turn or stand or present some slightly better target. After two more bounces, he finally turned just enough for me to get a better look at his grape. It was far, a lot farther than I would have liked, but I figured, hey, if I miss, the ball will be gone, shot goes down the tube and he'll come back...
As the smoked cleared, I saw his tail sticking straight up in the air. It slowly lowered, like a flag to half-mast. Turns out I was off the mark a bit though...instead of hitting him the head, I took him right behind the front shoulder, taking him briskly without damaging one ounce of yummy rat-steak.
a little better than 35 yards, .600 round ball, 70gr 3F Goex, North Star West Trade Gun Kit that I modified into a Po' Boy Barn Gun.
Moo-hoo-ha-ha-ha-ha!
One more week till BP Season!!!
