Has anyone ever found a solution to silver solder on a blue or browned gun? Here's my plight, I have soldered an underrib on a barrel and after clean up and filing off all the excess I can get, there is still a thin line of silver at the joint. I tried a quick application of the cold blue just to see what would happen. The steel of the barrel and rib came out great but there still is the discolored line of solder. I've seen items soldered on guns before with no visible solder so my skill at soldering is probably in question but I really don't want to have to re-do it (it took 5 attempts ro get it just where I want it).

Thanks

There is an acid solution that is used in making silver jewelry that MAY work in this case (silver black). Unfortunately, commercial browning and bluing solutions don't seen to work on silver bearing/tin based solders. My suggestion would be to clean it up as best as possible so the barrel and under-rib can be blued or browned and don't worry about the silver line. Just my opinion...
