Back in the 70's there was a product being sold to light up your bore called Bore brites. They were just little polished cylinders in various diameters that you dropped in your bore and then shined a light on them to illuminate the bore.Does anyone know if they can still be bought? Thank You!

I've bought a few in the past couple of years from a dealer from Oregon who frequents the BP gun shows over this way. The name escapes me just now, but am sure someone on the forum will have a better memory than me! Joe someone? The ones he has are new but obviously old stock as the packaging is quite ratty, don't know if they are still being made.

Anyway, I have one each in .32, .45, .54. & .58 calibers which I keep in my range bag . They all fit in an Altoids tin along with a mini-Maglite. Also handy for toting along to gun shows.

I remember those, but I haven't seen any for a while. I use nickel .38 Special or .45 ACP cases. Just drop them in the bore base up and shine a light downbore. Works great, and they are cheap.

if you have access to stainless rod you can make your own. just take a short section and polish the end mirror bright so that it will reflect light.

i use one of my round balls fer my gun and make sure it's kinda polished and roll it down the bore to the breech, then look down with a flashlight....it will light up the bore to see anything in the rifling or any pits or rust etc :v .................bob

CVA and at least another company or two makes them. The CVA model will work with .40 and up. I bought one from the Possibles Shop.
