I've got and L&R 'Classic' lock, and it's got a frizzen that boi-oi-oi-ngs open. It sparks just fine, but when the frizzen is full open, it's bouncing back and forth on the frizzen spring until it comes to rest. It's not bouncing so much that it is rebounding onto the hammer and flint, but I feel the whole gun vibrating from this. I'd like it to flip open and come to a dead stop.

Ideas, anyone?

Thanks, Tom

The frizzen spring needs to be stronger. It may be that it is not widely enough spread when relaxed. Check to see how high the arm sits when there's no frizzen on the lock. It should rise at least 1/8" above the frizzen toe that rubs on the spring. L&R should be able to send you a replacement frizzen spring, and other suppliers sell parts for L&R locks if L&R does not want to warrant it.

Alternatively, if the lock was somehow poorly built (frizzen spring mounted too low on the plate) or the frizzen toe is too short, you'll need to either modify the existing spring, make a new one, or if the frizzen toe is too short, get a new frizzen.
