I ran down for an eve bowhunt over the weekend and as I approached the big field spied some turkey's on the far side. I made a huge hook around the field and setup with my bow at one of the "pinch throughs" I had seen them use before. There are 2 roost sites that I have seen them use on this property but as daylight started to fade and no turkeys made their way by my I decided to make a dash to the other site a mere 150 yards to the south. As I cut through the cedars I saw 2 turkeys trot into the brush, so I stopped. A few minutes later I heard them fly up, so I knew the game was over. I decided to see how close I could get and ended up getting 15yards from their roost tree (thanks to some cedars) and finally a hen putted a few times and busted out of the tree. The other turkey sat there, jerking his head from side to side trying to get a fix on me through the cedars. As I last bit of daylight started to fade I eased forward and saw his longbeard in the twighlight, a mere 18-20yards from me against the sky. As I turned to leave he also flushed from the tree and amazed me once more just how powerful their wings are..the branches were shaking for quite-some-time...and so was I.
:D :D

I can't wait till April!!!
