The easiest books to find at the local large book store or on line at Amazon, Borders and Barnes and Noble would be the series of black powder books written by Sam Fadala. Many of us think he is a bit too modern and too caught up in the over powered too stout loads, but the information on care and cleaning is pretty good and well detailed. The new edition of the Lyman Black Powder Manual has a lot of good information as well.

On line you can't get much better than Bob Spencer's Black powder Notebook.

another good read is...
"the muzzle loaders little library" by Major R.O. Ackerman.
it is 4 small books,
intro to muzzle loading
shooting the percussion rifle
shooting the flintlock rifle
and
care and repair of muzzle loaders

its full of good info and can be found used/new online at various known websites dealing with books.

the previous mentioned Bob Aspen/buffalo black powder site has lots of info and links to sites worthy of reading. I think his link may be in this forums links section.

The Lyman Black Powder Handbook gives basic instruction and is the most complete source of ballistic data I have found. It is commonly available in sporting goods stores and even Walmart.
