Don't know where to put this question so here goes.
Does anyone know of anything that you can coat the metal parts of a ml with to make it easier to clean or to prevent
the black powder residue from coating or sticking to the me and facilitate cleaning the ml?

You mean before you shoot it, like Teflon or something of that order?

If you clean it squeaky clean to begin with and swab between shots, you can maintain that fresh barrel smoothness throughout your shooting session...

Ask in the modern forum. I think it is called Black Ice Teflon coating.

doc: Ah don't kno of annythin that wood kep ye smellin lik ...wal, a doc. aftur shootin ah smokepole.

Ah ain't two sure why somone wood want ta knot smell lik good ole blackpowder, but...it takes all kinds, Ah guess. :: ::

As fer yer gun, ye mite try waxin tha outside O tha barral an tha stock afore ye go's shootin.
That seems ta mak it easeer ta clean tha greesie fingar prints off. Ah don't kno that Ah've seen whar it has much eefect on tha matal parts tho.

Acktually, jus plain ole watar will cleen up tha black powder foulin, an addin sum dish soap cuts thru tha greese in tha boor an on tha outsid of tha barrel whar yer greesy fingar prints are.

Happi shuutin, ah says! :)

Let me rephrase and to explain/expound.
Its not for me or the smell.
I was referring to the hammer and external parts - not the cleaning between or after shooting.
One expample is for a cap and ball revolver - the hammer and the cylinder.
I am not trying to get away from bp, if I were I wuld go smokless.
I am just exploring the vast resources of knowledage and
experience herein.
Just trying to make life simpler.

I think you all may have missed an important question.

Do you use a petrolium based lube or oil on your ML?
This with interact with teh BP and make it harder to clean.

Most of use use food or natural based lubes like T/C 1000 or the like.

Then all we need to do is use hot soap and water to clean with.

Which is cheaper than all them fancy modern do-dads and snake oils.
