Is anyone going to take part in the living history events this weekend in Braddock, PA?

Any idea on the scope of the event? How big, how many re-enactors?

Information please if you have it.

Thanks

Greg

I hadn't heard anything about an event in Braddock, but have you checked out the exhibit at the Heinz History Center? They have two very nice Christian Springs Rifles on display along with a host of Tulles, Besses, trade guns, powder horns, and tomahawks. Beautiful stuff!

Thanks. Not sure if I can make it, but I'm going to try to check it out.

Did not make it to Braddock but I went to Ft. Necessity this past weekend. Very nice.

At the fort they had a french encampment with artillery and musket demonstrations. Griffing was also there and I purchased a copy of his newest painting "the wounding of General Braddock".

On Sunday they recreated Braddocks burial. Very interesting.

I went to Jumonville Glen (about ten minute drive from Ft. necessity). In the town of Jumonville they had a brittish encampment.

Correction, There is only one Christian Springs gun there, the Edward Marshall. The other so called Christian Springs gun is a somewhat shaky attribution to Andreas Albrecht during his Christian Springs period. The other Kentucky is a Reading rifle attributed to Wolfgang Hachen{Haga}.There is only one Tulle, one French musket, one English trade{?} gun ie;the Bumford gun and a Bess that was carried by a British soldier under Braddock. There are a few other guns but I don't remember much about them off hand. The horns are very good as are the axes. The manequins and other displays are excellent. The early Indian clothing is awesome. I was rather disappointed in the lack of good early trade silver. The paintings are great and overall the exhibit is excellent.
